MATTHEW COOPER
Author & Storyteller
School Visits
I can visit schools to read and discuss any of my published books. I can also answer questions on being an author, story telling, or other related topics. My talks are suitable for all primary grades and provide good support for PYP Units of Inquiry and other national curricula. Content can be tailored according to the age and time requirements. Basic details of the specific author visits are given below; for more detailed information, including costs, please contact me via the 'Contact' form on the tab above.
Transport Studies

During my visit I can read from either of my picture books, Lost in Hong Kong or Lost in Singapore, and then lead a fun interactive discussion on the cities' transport systems, using resources developed exclusively for school visits. Discussion can include the comparison and contrasting of the various types of transport, both past and present.
Habitat studies

During my visit I can read my picture book, Black Rain Day, and then lead a fun interactive discussion on habitats, using resources developed exclusively for school visits. Discussions can include habitats, their inhabitants (with specific emphasis placed on Hong Kong native species) and the human impacts they both face.
Endangered species

During my visit I can read my picture storybook, The Last Gibbon, and then lead an interactive discussion on endangered animals, using resources developed exclusively for school visits. Students will have an opportunity to learn about endangered animals, including the Hainan Gibbon, and discover how they can have a positive impact on the future of this unique creature.
Celebrations

During my visit I can read my picture book, Celebrate Hong Kong, and then lead an interactive discussion on some of the diverse festivals and celebrations observed in the city state, using resources developed exclusively for school visits. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the racial and religious diversity of Hong Kong and the different ways that people celebrate important festivals.
